I am interested in the evolution of the human brain, the evolution of cognition, and comparative primate neurobiology. In particular, I would like to study the evolution of the neural substrates for language using functional and structural neuroimaging techniques. I am interested in applying the research methods of neuroscience to long-standing questions in biological anthropology. Sarah Barks, Emory University

I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002 with a BA in anthropology and philosophy-neuroscience-psychology. I startedthe anthropology doctoral program at Emory in September of 2003. I am currently working with Dr. Rilling to learn about neuroimaging methods; I have also worked in Dr. Todd Preuss's Laboratory of Human Brain Evolution, using immunocytochemistry to compare human and non-human primate brain tissue.
