Research activities of the laboratory include investigations of phytoestrogen action
and field studies of hormone-behavior interactions in free-ranging primates.
- Phytoestrogens
- Plant chemicals that mimic animal estrogens have been shown to influence a wide variety
of reproductive processes. Our research focuses on the in vivo actions of
isoflavonoids and their mechanisms of action.
-
- Field Endocrinology
- Field endocrinology examines the adaptive significance of behaviors and their endocrine
regulators by assessing hormone responses in wild animal populations. Our research uses
excreted and serum steroids to examine the influence of social and ecological contexts on
the regulation, ontogeny, and evolution of behavior.
