The Trevor E. Stokol Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research

Trevor StokolThe Trevor E. Stokol award is given to exceptional anthropology undergraduates who complete a senior thesis in biological anthropology. The award is named for an outstanding graduate of the Department of Anthropology who died tragically while fulfilling his dream of climbing Mount Everest. As a student in the Emory Department of Anthropology, Trevor worked with George Armelagos and presented a paper with George at the 2002 conference of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists entitled, "Tetracycline in a Meroitic Population (0 CE-250 CE) from Sudanese Nubia." Two students, Matthew Glasser and Sharon Rikin, have won the Stokol Award since it was established as a joint effort between Trevor Stokol's family and the Emory Department of Anthropology.

Please take a moment to visit the Stokol family website, where you can learn more about Trevor's impassioned life and his legacy of personal empathy and scholarly achievement.
